Asset Protection, Corporations & Sailing Ships:
Did you know that corporations became popular in the days of sailing ships?
That's right, investors would use corporations to limit their financial risk to only the assets (mainly the ship) of each voyage.
The investors would put money into a corporation to finance the voyage. Then, the corporation would hire a crew to sail to the new world to look for treasures.
If the ship was lost, the crew likely lost their lives, but the investors loss was limited only to the amount of money they put into the corporation for that particular voyage.
